Help For Parents
Bring more harmony into your home!
Behavior management can make parenting and disciplining a child with ADHD, autism, Conduct Disorder, Oppositional Defiance Disorder or other special needs a little easier. This approach involves rewarding desired behaviors while discouraging unwanted or impulsive behaviors. Although the concept itself is simple, effectively implementing behavior management strategies can be challenging for a busy parent!.
As a behavioral specialist, I can assist you in creating, implementing and maintaining behavioral strategies that will make your home a more peaceful and pleasant place to be. All families are different and I will help you to discover what works best in your home in the establishing of effective household routines such as homework, bedtime, meal time, and screen time. Just imagine life with no more supermarket meltdowns!
I also specialize in providing therapy for parents who would like assistance with stress management, time management and self-care. Getting support and guidance for yourself is often the best thing you can do for your child. If parenting issues and the daily stresses of life have led you to feeling overwhelmed, sad, defeated or worried, please call today. I’d like to help.

If your child is struggling with any of the issues below, I can help:
Separation/Grief & Loss – death of a parent, divorce
Habit Disorders – thumb-sucking, nail-biting, hair-pulling
Disruptive Behaviors – hitting, biting, breaking toys or other property, supermarket meltdowns
School Problems – peer relations, homework compliance, focus/concentration
Sleep Problems – bedtime tantrums, nap time, not wanting to sleep in own bed
For Teens / Young Adults
Transitions can be tough. They can be times in our lives when we can have trouble managing our thoughts, emotions or behaviors. Balancing the demands of school and/or work, and trying to meet the expectations of parents, teachers, friends, and/or romantic partners can quickly add up to feeling overwhelmed, lost and uncertain about what the future holds.
Sometimes, with so many decisions to make and so many “suggestions” coming from so many places, it can be hard to know what YOU want. Having a confidential place to talk things over with a professional is a great place to start.
I have particular expertise in helping teens and young adults with issues of anxiety, stress management, grief & loss, and self-esteem issues.
ADHD (children / teens / young adult)
Whether a child, teen or young adult with ADHD, I can help by teaching age-appropriate, effective, and user-friendly strategies that:
ADHD doesn’t have to be a barrier to living life to its full potential – I invite you to call today to see how I can help.
Autism Spectrum Disorders / Asperger’s Syndrome
Problem behaviors of children with autism spectrum disorders are among the most challenging and stressful issues faced by parents. Behaviors such as property destruction, aggression, tantrums, and self-injury can be major barriers to your child’s social and educational development.
As a specialist in behavior management, I can help your child to:
Better understand and cope with the demands of the classroom or home routines
Better communicate his/her wants and needs
Improve his/her ability to understand the effects or consequences of behaviors
Increase pro-social behaviors
Reduce isolation/exclusion from social, school, family or community activities
I work closely with physicians, schools and community supports to ensure continuity and comprehensiveness of care. I also provide parents with help in navigating the often overwhelming or confusing array of school-based and community-based resources that your child may need.
