I'm an experienced, licensed psychologist who has been helping people get "unstuck" from unhelpful behavior patterns for over 20 years. Whether you're facing a temporary, difficult life situation or struggling with more long-standing problems like depression or anxiety, I can help. My style is direct and active - I don't simply nod my head while you talk. I'll listen closely, we'll work together on the problem and I'll offer you supportive, non-judgmental and practical feedback that will help you to navigate through the issue as quickly and effectively as possible.

Anxiety reduction is a central focus and specialization of my practice. Examples of areas in which I specialize include chronic work-related stress, challenges with life transitions like post-divorce adjustment, retirement, relocation, career changes, the end of a romantic relationship, and panic attacks, social anxiety and chronic worry.

I also have extensive experience in working with the stressors that are unique to teachers and other high-stress occupations. In addition, I also offer career testing to assist with work transition issues.

Anxiety / Panic / Phobias

Has your doctor told you that it’s “just” anxiety? Panic symptoms can be terrifying and it can be frustrating to feel that your doctor has minimized the problem. Often, the only medical assistance offered is a prescription for medications that have an addictive potential. Fortunately, there are highly effective psychological treatments available. I specialize in the treatment of anxiety, including panic attacks, agoraphobia and social anxiety using cognitive behavioral therapy and exposure therapy. These are the approaches that have received the most scientific support for treatment effectiveness.  Anxiety doesn’t have to rule your life anymore. Take control today and let’s get started on putting the anxiety behind you!

Expertise and Specialized Training in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure with Response Prevention (EXRP) for the treatment of:

  • Panic Disorder and Agoraphobia

  • Specific Phobias - bridges, driving, heights, fear of flying, elevators, etc.

  • Social Anxiety

  • Generalized Anxiety / Chronic Worrying

Career / Work Issues

A recent study showed that up to 97% of people would not stay in their current job if they were financially independent. Given that we spend at least 1900 hours a year working, this is a sad statement about how trapped many people feel when it comes to their work life. It doesn't have to be that way!
